Nat 20: What is it and why?
Hey, we’re Nat 20: Fest — a couple of nerds, brothers-in-law, and lifelong fans of the kind of hobbies that somehow start with “just one quick game” and end six hours later surrounded by dice, cards, rulebooks and snacks.
Nat 20 was founded by Josh and Mike, who are, and always will be, at the heart of the festival. Mike is a big TTRPG fan who has recently discovered the joy of being a monk in 5.5E, while Josh is a Magic: The Gathering aficionado who’ll play anything but mono blue.
Like all good ideas, the concept for a tabletop-centred immersive festival was born in the early hours of the morning, after possibly a few too many ales. What started as a “wouldn’t it be amazing if…” conversation quickly became something much bigger: a mission to create the UK’s first outdoor, weekend, immersive festival where tabletop gaming and hobbies are the main event.
Nat 20: Fest is built for the players, painters, collectors, storytellers, dice goblins, deck builders, lore nerds, miniature hoarders, party members, dungeon masters and curious newcomers who make this community what it is.
Our aim is simple: to take the best parts of a convention — the games, creators, traders, demos, tournaments, talks and community — and give them the atmosphere of a proper weekend festival. Think less grey exhibition hall, more fantasy market square, gaming tents, live quests, campfire conversations and a whole weekend surrounded by people who get just as excited about a critical hit as you do; but most importantly, Nat 20 is gaming first.
Music, performance and entertainment will absolutely have their place, but they are here to support the world we’re building — not overshadow it. This is not a music festival with a few gaming bits attached. It is a tabletop festival, designed around the hobbies, stories and communities that inspired it.
We also want Nat 20: Fest to be welcoming, inclusive and as accessible as we can make it. Whether you’ve been playing since first edition, only discovered D&D through actual play shows, are deep into your TCG meta, spend your evenings painting tiny shoulder pads, or have never rolled a d20 in your life, there will be a place for you here.
No gatekeeping. No “you’re not a real fan if…”. No needing to know every rule, faction, set, spell or sourcebook before you arrive. Just a weekend of games, stories, creativity, questionable dice luck and shared enthusiasm.
Nat 20: Fest is being built by fans, for fans — and we can’t wait to welcome you to the table.
